At Lunar Mirror, we believe your personal data should stay personal. This privacy policy explains what the app keeps on your iPhone, and the few cases in which anything leaves it.
We built Lunar Mirror to be privacy-first

What the App Keeps on Your Device
We don't collect any data. Everything below is stored by the app on your iPhone, and only there.
1. Your Journal Entries
What: Your daily ratings for 10 values:
- Inner World: Calm, Intuition, Resilience, Reflection
- Core Self: Mood, Clarity
- Outer World: Energy, Social, Focus, Vitality
Plus what you add to a day: a word and a line, the practices you kept, and what visited (emotions, mind, body, energy, spirit and social chips, some with their intensity, including intimacy in Body on the days you tap it). Also the names and reflections you give your moons, the seasons and years you seal, your chapters and your dates to remember.
Why: To show your days, the patterns your own entries support, and your notebook
2. Your Cycle (optional)
What: If you turn on cycle tracking (it's off by default): the bleed days you log, and the cycle and bleed lengths the app counts from them
Why: To show the phases of your cycle and how your values move through them
3. Your Profile (optional)
- Your name, for your notebook's cover
- Your birthday, only if you turn on numerology in Traditions
- Your hemisphere, guessed from your iPhone's region setting so the seasons fall right (you can change it in your profile)
4. A City, If You Choose One (optional)
What: The name and coordinates of a city you choose for moonrise times
How we get it: You type a city's name and Apple Maps finds it (see Third-Party Services below). The app never asks for location access and never reads your device's location.
5. App Preferences
What:
- Your evening reminder time and notification choices
- Appearance, Traditions and the Face ID lock
- Other app settings
How the App Uses Your Information
All processing happens locally on your device:
- Calculate moon phases and moonrise times with open-source astronomy libraries (TinyMoon and SwiftAstro) that run on your device
- Show your days, your patterns and the findings your own entries support
- Make your notebook, a PDF of a season or the year, when you ask for it
- Show a small summary on the Home Screen widget (the moon's days, which days you wrote and your moons' names), shared only between the app and its widget on your device
- Schedule local notifications, if you turn them on: an evening reminder on days you haven't written yet, and a look-back the morning after a moon, a season or the year closes
We never send your journal data, values, cycle or personal information to any server.
Third-Party Services
The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking. It uses these Apple services and open-source libraries:
Apple Maps (MapKit)
When: Only when you search for a city for moonrise times
What happens: The text you type (e.g., "Paris") is sent to Apple to find the city and its coordinates
Apple's Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy
Face ID and Touch ID
When: Only if you turn on the lock in You → Settings → Security
What happens: iOS checks your face or fingerprint and tells the app only whether it matched. The app never sees your face or fingerprint data.
Notifications
When: Only if you allow them
What happens: The app schedules them on your iPhone. No server sends them.
Apple App Store Analytics and Crash Reports
What: If you've chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple gives us anonymous, aggregated figures (such as downloads and sessions) and crash reports (device type, iOS version, crash log)
What we don't see: Anything you write in the app, your cycle, or your location

How it works: They run entirely on your device with no network calls

Your Notebook (PDF)
The notebook is made on your iPhone. It leaves your phone only if you share or save it from the share sheet: to Files, Mail, a printer or another app you choose. Once you share it, the person or app you send it to has it.
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: All your data is stored on your device. Your journal files use iOS Data Protection: they are encrypted while your iPhone is locked.
No Cloud: The app doesn't use iCloud or any server to store or sync your data.
Device Backups: If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, the backup includes Lunar Mirror's data, as it does for most apps. Those backups are kept by Apple or on your computer; we can't read them.
No Cross-Device Sync: Your data stays on the device where you created it.
Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID), and by the app's own lock if you turn it on.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal information to third parties.
The only times anything leaves your device:
- When you search for a city, the name you type is sent to Apple Maps (see Third-Party Services above)
- When you share or save your notebook, it goes where you send it
Your Rights and Choices
Location
- The app never asks for location access and never reads your device's location
- A city for moonrise times is optional: add or remove it in You → Settings → Moonrise times
Notifications
- You can turn the evening reminder and look-backs on or off in You → Settings → Notifications
- You can disable all notifications in device Settings → Notifications → Lunar Mirror
Cycle Tracking and the Lock
- Turn cycle tracking on or off in You → Settings → Cycle tracking
- Turn the Face ID or Touch ID lock on or off in You → Settings → Security
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Delete the app = all your data is permanently deleted from your device
- A backup of your iPhone made earlier keeps a copy until that backup is replaced or deleted
- No account to deactivate, no servers to contact
Data Export
You can make a notebook of a season or the year, a PDF made on your device, in You → Notebook. It holds your days and the patterns they make, with room to write by hand. There is no other export.
Children's Privacy
Lunar Mirror is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we don't have user accounts or collect data on servers, we cannot verify users' ages.

Health and Wellness Disclaimer
Important: Lunar Mirror is for self-reflection and entertainment purposes only.
This app is NOT:
- Medical or mental health advice
- A substitute for professional healthcare
- A diagnostic or treatment tool
- A method of contraception: don't use cycle tracking to prevent or plan a pregnancy
- Intended to replace consultation with qualified healthcare providers
Use at Your Own Risk:
- Patterns and correlations shown are based on your self-reported data
- We make no guarantees about health outcomes or improvements
- Correlation does not imply causation
- The app is for personal insight and reflection only
Always Consult Professionals: Before making any health, mental health, or wellness decisions based on information in the app, please consult with a licensed physician or qualified healthcare provider.
Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you've read in Lunar Mirror.
International Users
Since all data processing happens on your device, there are no international data transfers by us. Your data never leaves your device to go to our servers (because we don't have servers for user data). A city search is handled by Apple under its own policy.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, please note:
- Right to Know: We don't collect personal information. What you enter is stored only on your device.
- Right to Delete: Delete the app to delete all data.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information.
- Non-Discrimination: Since we don't collect data on servers, there's no discrimination possible.

Data Controller: We don't receive your personal data. What you enter, including health data such as your cycle, is processed only on your device and stays under your control.
Legal Basis: The app processes your entries on your device when you use its features. A city search is sent to Apple only when you start it.
Your Rights:
- Right to access: View your data anytime in the app
- Right to erasure: Delete the app
- Right to portability: Make a notebook (PDF) of a season or the year
- Right to withdraw consent: Turn off notifications, cycle tracking or the city for moonrise times anytime

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect:
- New features or functionality
- Changes in privacy practices

When we make changes:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Material changes will be announced in the app
- Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
No Data Breach Risk
Since we don't store your data on servers, there's no risk of a traditional "data breach" where hackers access a database. Your data is only as secure as your device's security (passcode, biometric protection, etc.).
Recommendations:
- Use a strong device passcode
- Enable Face ID or Touch ID, and the app's lock if you like
- Keep your iOS updated
- Don't share your device with untrusted people
Cookies and Tracking
We do not use cookies or tracking technologies. The app is native iOS and doesn't use web-based tracking.
Apple may use cookies on the App Store, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
