Privacy Policy – Lunar Mirror
At Lunar Mirror, we believe your personal data should stay personal. This privacy policy explains what minimal information we collect and how we handle it.
We built Lunar Mirror to be privacy-first:
✅ All your data stays on your device
✅ No user accounts required
✅ No cloud storage or syncing
✅ No tracking or advertising
✅ We don't sell your data (we don't even have access to it)
🗑️ Delete the app = all your data is deleted
What Information We Collect
1. Location Data
What: Your geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude)
Why: To calculate accurate moon phases, lunar proximity, and zodiac positions for your specific location
How we get it:
Automatic: If you allow location access, we use your device's GPS
Manual: If you type a city name, we use Apple's MapKit service to convert it to coordinates
Where it's stored: Only on your device. We never send it to our servers.
2. Your Journal Entries
What: Your daily ratings for 10 metrics:
Inner World: Calm, Intuition, Resilience, Reflection
Outer World: Energy, Social, Focus, Vitality
Core Self: Mood, Clarity
Plus any notes you choose to add.
Why: To track your patterns over time and correlate them with lunar cycles
Where it's stored: Only on your device in local storage
3. App Preferences
What:
Your daily reminder time (default 19:00)
Notification preferences (on/off)
Other app settings
Where it's stored: Only on your device
How We Use Your Information
All processing happens locally on your device:
Calculate moon phases using the TinyMoon Swift package (open source, runs locally)
Display your journal history and analytics
Show correlations between your metrics and lunar cycles
Generate your "Lunar Personality" insights
Send local notifications for daily reminders (if enabled)
Alert you to special moon events
We never send your journal data, metrics, or personal information to any server.
Third-Party Services
We use minimal third-party services:
Apple MapKit
When: Only when you manually type a location name What happens: Your typed location (e.g., "Paris") is sent to Apple to get coordinates Apple's Privacy: Apple Privacy Policy
Apple App Store Analytics
What: Anonymous, aggregated data about app usage (downloads, crashes, device types) What we don't see: Your personal data, journal entries, or location Apple's Privacy: App Analytics Privacy
Apple Crash Reports
What: Anonymous technical data when the app crashes Purpose: To fix bugs and improve stability What's included: Device type, iOS version, crash logs (no personal data)
TinyMoon Swift Package
What: Open-source astronomical calculations library How it works: Runs entirely on your device with no external calls Source: Available on GitHub
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: All your data is stored in your device's local storage using iOS standard security practices.
No Cloud Backup: We don't use iCloud or any cloud service to store your data.
No Cross-Device Sync: Your data stays on the device where you created it.
Device Security: Your data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal information to third parties.
The only exception:
When you manually type a location, that location name is sent to Apple MapKit to get coordinates (see Third-Party Services above)
Your Rights and Choices
Location Permissions
You can enable or disable location access in your device Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Lunar Mirror
You can always use manual location entry instead

You can turn off daily reminders in the app's More → Notifications settings

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

Your data is completely removed from your device
